Marc Glassberg is a trained chef and sommelier who has worked at some of the most prestigious restaurants in the world. Cellar Master Consulting brings his considerable expertise to private wine collecting and entertaining.

Through Cellar Master Consulting, Glassberg provides private sommelier and cellar management services. He builds and manages wine collections ranging from multi-million dollar cellars to newlyweds’ first bottles and provides consulting for food and beverage establishments, private events and beyond. The concept evolved from Glassberg’s desire to make wine collecting accessible to anyone with an interest in and passion for wine. Eschewing trends and formulas, Glassberg focuses on developing wine collections tailored to individual palates, preferences and requirements.

Glassberg spent over a decade as sommelier in two of San Francisco’s highest-rated restaurants, Michelin star recipients Restaurant Gary Danko and Quince, and then served as wine director at Michelin starred State Bird Provisions. In these roles, he created distinguished wine lists and specialized in creating food and wine pairings for discerning clients. He also developed relationships with international wine makers and distributors during this time.

Glassberg’s passion for food and wine began at the age of 15 working as a busboy in a small French restaurant in Northern California. From there he went on to graduate with honors from the world-famous Culinary Institute of America in New York. He then classically trained in the front of the house at Michelin three-star Residenz Heinz Winkler in Aschau im Chiemgau, Germany before returning to San Francisco to work in the acclaimed Dining Room in The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco and Aureole in Las Vegas. He has served three United States presidents and numerous other luminaries. Glassberg also learned the intricacies of German wine and developed experience in wine logistics while employed at Dee Vine Wines in San Francisco. His years working at the front of the house as well as alongside renowned chefs and industry professionals have honed his exceptional and wide-ranging palate, his training in food and wine service, and commitment to the highest standard of client experience.

Marc Glassberg’s expertise is matched only by his enthusiasm. His love of excellent food and wine has driven his travels, including visits to some of the finest vineyards and wine producers in Europe.
